Wal-la Land Open

This tournament was named “Wal-la Land Open” by June 3rd Buffalo Grove chess tournament champion Yuri Ashuev.

4SS G/60; d5.  USCF Dual Rated.  St John United Church – Christ, 1475 W. Algonquin Rd, Palatine, IL 60067. 
We’ll be in the basement. 

One Section: Open; Accelerated or decelerated pairings at TD discretion.  Sorry, we do not accept junior players rated under 900; published USCF Regular Rating determines eligibility. 

Advance entries are strongly recommended.  Entry fee is $20 by 6/26, $25 after, $30 on-site. Please pre-register and pay online at http://www.kingregistration.com/tournaments/event/walaland.  Online registration closes at 8:00 P.M. the night before the tournament.

Schedule:  Check-in and Registration 9:00 – 9:30 am, first round 9:45 am, last round ends roughly 7:30 PM.  Player must check in by 9:30; players who arrive late will receive a half-point bye for the first round.  You may take a half-point bye in any round but the last. 

On-Site entries:  If space is available, on-site entries are taken on as first-come, first serve basis starting at 9:00 am.  On site entry-fee is $30, cash only.

Prizes:  Top 2 players - $100 and $80, based on a min. of 20 players.  Top U1800, U1600 and U1400 cash prizes may be added based on attendance.  

Other information: Bring boards and sets, limited number provided.  Bring digital clocks.  Limit 50 players.
