ICA Board Election Results

Last month, the ICA held an election for the five general board member positions. According to the ICA Constitution, at least two of these at-large members shall reside in Cook County or the collar counties (DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will), and at least two shall reside outside those counties. The ballots were counted by the election committee composed of Patrice Connelly, Sam Henderson and Maret Thorpe on 7 February 2018.

The winners were Eva Harrison (38 votes), Michael Lenox (38 votes), Megan Chen (35 votes) for three Chicago metro area positions, and Garrett Scott (write-in, 3 votes) and Murrel Rhodes (write-in, 3 votes) for two downstate positions. The following people also received votes but were not elected: Larry Cohen, Bill Whited, Bill Buklis, Irwin Gaines, Kenneth Marshall, Marc Lonoff, Patrice Connelly, Steve Plotnick, Tom Mikolyzk and Wayne Zimmerle. Congratulations to all!

Megan Chen was newly elected; Eva Harrison and Michael Lenox have already been serving on the board; Garrett Scott and Murrel Rhodes held ICA board positions in the past. The newly elected directors took office earlier this month and will serve a two-year term. There are four officers who serve on the board and will come up for election at the end of 2018: Patrick Cohen, President; Steve Plotnick, Metro VP; Rachel Schechter, Downstate VP; and Patrice Connelly, Secretary. The ICA Board is currently looking for a treasurer.

The Illinois Chess Association wishes to thank all the members who voted in this election.
