2016 Illinois Senior Open Chess Championship

The Illinois Chess Association is requesting bids from organizers interested in organizing the 2016 Illinois Senior Open Chess Championship, the winner of which will be the 2016 Illinois Senior Champion.

Organizers are requested to submit bids for the tournament with a preferred 2-day, 4 to 5 round, slow time control format to be held the fall of 2016, although other time frames for the tournament would work. 2016 will be the 3rd Illinois Senior Open since its rebirth, and a specific time for its occurrence has yet to be established. The tournament announcement for the 2015 Illinois Senior Open, to be held October 31-November 1, 2015, can be found here.

Organizers may suggest alternative formats, if they wish. As this tournament does not have a long history, the Bid Committee may look favorably on alternative formats that would have the likelihood of drawing a greater number of players.

The Illinois Senior Open should be limited to players that have reached age 50 by the first date of the tournament. See the ICA Bid Guidelinesthe on the ICA website for specifics on submitting bids for ICA tournaments. Submit bids by November 15 to Carl Dolson at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
