Bronfeyn Wins December Kings and Queens

Daniel Bronfeyn won all four of his matches against all-age competition at the December 13 Kings and Queens Challenge in Wheeling. US Chess crosstables are posted.

Finishing a half-point back was Mariano Acosta who took a half-point bye in the third round but won his other three matches.

Tying for third place with 3.0 was the trio of Dimitar Mardov, Nicholas Ladan and Matthew Stone. Both Dimitar and Matthew fell victim to the event champion.

Matthew raised his rating 209 points to 1442 with the event, upsetting both a 1600 (2nd round) and a 1500 (3rd round) in the tournament.

20 players competed in the Open.

16 faced off in the Advanced section: Leon Rapoport and Ben Finkelshteyn were both four-for-four. A half-point back with 3.5's were Zalan Gyorgy and Anthony Safonov.

19 competed in the beginner section with five players earning 4.0/5 results: Gregory Fishman, Ilana Geister, Michele Pankov, Keoni Osborne and Joseph Rozenblat were all co-champions.

Gregory was competing in his first rated event.

Ilana (+136), Keoni (+156), and Joseph (+144) all posted triple-digit ratings enhancements while Michele's rating ONLY went up 86 points.
