The Illinois All-Grade Championship is one of two US Chess-rated scholastic state championships conducted each school year.

Naperville North High School will be the host location for the Saturday, November 5 All-Grade. Registration for this state championship event is only $40 which is less than some organizers charge for local tournaments. A portion of the proceeds goes to support Warren Junior Scholars and Rising Stars.

15 team rooms were made available at $99 for larger groups but generous amounts of skittles areas are available at the school for all.

Registration can be accomplished through the organizer website, Elite Chess. More information is available there as well as on the ICA calendar.

The other rated stated championship is the Illinois K-8 championship -- which this school year will be held in Bloomington-Normal during March of 2017.

What differentiates the All-Grade from the K-8's is the following:

Naperville North High School coach Jeff DiOrio is an experienced tournament organizer and is working hard to assure optimal conditions.

In order to make the cost of attendence just a little bit easier on parents, DiOrio supported an initiative to bring players discounted US Chess memberships, only $11 vs. $17, $22 or $26 (depending on player age).

To take advantage of the discounted membership program, please fill out this form: https://goo.gl/forms/T8B9e9Gz8jy50RMx1. It generates a message and you'll be contacted regarding payment after the registration is processed.

This discounted program is available for expired memberships, brand new memberships and active memberships which expire 10/31/2016.

If the membership is current, please wait until about two weeks before expiration to take advantage of the program.

Stay tuned to the ICA site for updated information on the All-Grade -- and for the K-8's when they are available.
