With 551 signed up so far, the competition should be fierce at the 2017 Illinois K-8 Championships in Normal this weekend.

Online registration is now closed -- but don't despair -- walk-up registrations can be accomplished at the Marriott Hotel & Conference Center from 7pm through 9pm Friday, March 10. A complete listing of registrants can be seen at the BNASC.org site -- which will also provide any last-minute change information.

Check in Saturday morning is NOT required according to BNASC -- unless there are corrections to what is listed on the website.

For those matters, please arrive in order to get your player / team changes processed from 8:00am to 9:30am Saturday morning.

Blitz and Bughouse side events will be held Friday evening with over 100 registrations so far!

Check the BNASC.org site for the onsite registration information for the side events.

Many attendees are accustomed to enjoying the Marriott for accommodations at past K-8's -- but this should serve as a reminder that ALL EVENT ACTIVITY will be at the Hotel & Conference Center this timel no aspect of the event is occuring at the university (but you can still visit the home of the Redbirds if you so wish!).

With 91 entries in the K-1 section, 167 in Grades 2-3, 165 in Grades 4-5 and 128 signed up for Grades 6-8, can anyone guess the eventual winners in all four sections?

Ahead of the NCAA brackets, if you can anticipate the eventual individual winner in all four sections, send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.with your SINGLE entry form. Feel free to also weigh in on which school-based team will win each of the four sections. If your submission guesses all eight out of eight correctly, I will personally pay for a free individual entry to either next year's K-8 Championship, or this year's Ice Harbor Scholastic Championship in April, or SuperNationals in May. Submissions must be emailed by noon on Saturday. How's that for some March Madness?

The ICA applauds the BNASC organization for their exemplary teammwork in bringing us yet another impressive state championship.

If parents or spectators happen to grab some interesting pictures during the weekend, please feel free to email them -- or provide a link to the posting thereof -- to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We hope to provide ample coverage during the event and afterwards for posterity.
