Wanna Play a GM? Grandmasters Gurevich and Georgiev Sign Up for 2017 Illinois Open; Early Registration Until 8/11

Grandmasters Vlad Georgiev and Dmitry Gurevich are no strangers to the Illinois Open.

In fact the duo tied for the Illinois championship last year when the event was held at the same venue in Northbrook.

Gurevich -- fresh off his runner-up finish in the US Senior Open in Minnesota -- will be attempting to claim a share of the Illinois championship for a remarkable 10th time!

Gurevich first won the event outright in 1989 -- and won it again the next year too.

He was the outright winner in 1999 through 2001 as well as in 2010.

He was co-champion in 1993, 2012 as well as in 2016.

Georgiev was the outright winner in 2014 and co-champion in 2005 in addition to his finish last year.

The Illinois Chess Association has guaranteed $10,000 in combined prize money and door prizes to ICA members.

Entrants have until 8/11 to enter at the lowest possible rate.

Registration can be accomplished here -- and you too can take your shot at playing one of the many titled players anticipated for the prestigious event.
