The Illinois Chess Association Veterans Committee is sponsoring a blitz bonus tournament at the 2018 Illinois Senior Open. This will be a non rated tournament that is free of charge to all 2018 Senior Open entrants, regardless of veteran status. The purpose of this event is to encourage greater entrants into the Illinois Senior Open itself.
Illinois Chess Vets (ICV), the operational arm of the ICA Veterans Committee, will conduct this event. The event will be held on the last day of the 2018 Illinois Senior Open, 6 May 2018. The Time Control will be G/5; d3.
The event schedule is:
Registration: 7:45 - 7:55pm
Round 1 - 8:00 pm
Round 2 - 8:15 pm
Round 3 - 8:30 pm
Round 4 - 9:00 pm
Round 5 - 9:15 pm
Awards/Raffle: 9:30 pm
Requested 1/2 point bye available for 1st and 2nd round. The event rules will be per the USCF Official Rules of Chess, Edition 6.
Section 1 - Veterans Section. Included: ICV logbook, ICV logo lapel pin and 1 Raffle Ticket. Special Prizes. Chess Medals - Ties allowed. Most points obtained per service branch, most time in service.
Section 2 - Non Veteran Section. Note: Veterans may play in this section instead. Included: 1 Raffle Ticket. Special Prizes. Chess Medals - Ties allowed. Oldest player, Highest Rated Player and Lowest Rated Player. Free raffle to include clock and tournament chess set.
