ICA Elections Underway, E-Ballots Should Have Arrived

Now that the American people have undertaken their part in our democratic process -- and the electoral college has spoken -- it's time for yet another election!

No, Donald Trump is still slated to take office January 20, but starting yesterday Illinois Chess Association members should have received a ballot allowing them to vote for FIVE offices for the ICA Board of Directors.

President, Metro (Chicago) Vice President, Downstate Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are all up for two-year terms.

If you are an ICA member and did not receive a ballot -- or have any questions -- please contact Bill Brock at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Mr. Brock has been a long-time ICA Board Member and is ending his term as Treasurer of the 501 (c) (3) Association. Mr. Brock has stepped up to the plate one more time, serving as acting Secretary for the purposes of conducting a fair and impartial election.

My understanding is that some duplicate ballots have gone out -- but that "this is being handled".

It is also my understanding that some juniors may have received ballots. Under current ICA bylaws, those 18 and younger are NOT eligible to vote. Again, if you have questions, it is best to contact Mr. Brock for clarification.

Votes may be cast through 1 am on January 21 according to the ballot I received.

Only one of the five offices received the required nominations in accordance with the published rules so there are write-ins available for all five positions.

The new officers are slated to take office February 1, 2017 for presumably a 23-month term.
