Chicago Chess

Chicago Chess was founded on Aug 21, 2006 and has continuously grown through the years. As of Oct 1, 2021, the group has over 2600 members.

The mission of Chicago Chess is to provide a community for all chess lovers and to popularize chess.

The group is composed of chess enthusiasts who have this common mission and those who just enjoy playing chess together. It welcomes everyone from seasoned chess players to those who would like to get started and are looking for other people to play with. The group provides a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, improve your chess skills, and have a great time playing and socializing.

While started as a meetup group, Chicago Chess grew into one of the largest chess community in the United States, covering the entire Chicagoland with its events. There are currently the following locations and days for players to meet:
Tuesday Chess - River West (Chicago)
Wednesday Chess - Riverside (suburbs)
Friday Chess - Lincoln Park (Chicago)
Saturday Chess - Ravenswood (Chicago)
Sunday Chess - Romeoville (suburbs)
Sunday Chess - Old Town (Chicago)

The group is constantly growing by scouting new locations and encouraging local chess players to organize the events.

The group membership is free but donations are welcome and appreciated.

It has not been decided yet about the legal entity for the group (i.e. Club, Association, Foundation, or some other Non-For-Profit organization). But the rest is assured: Chicago Chess is here to continue its mission and provide a community for Chicagoland chess players.
