Gurevich wins Chicago Class Championship 2009

GM Dmitry Gurevich has reason to smile he scored 4/5 to take 1st place in the Master section at the 2009 Chicago Class Championships ahead of 1 GM, 2 IM's and 1 FM who all scored 3.5/5 to tie for second place. GM Gurevich is a familiar scene in both IL Chess and events around the country. He is both a strong player and a great chess coach.

In the Expert section Kurt Stein scored 4.5/5 to take 1st place.

In the Class A section Kevin Velazquez scored 4.5/5 to take 1st place.

In the Class B section 2 players Chengliang Luo and Matthew Gruber Castillon both scored 4.5/5 to take 1st place honors.

In the Class C section Cesaer Enverga scored 4.5/5 to take 1st place and gained 142 rating points.

In the Class D section Bohdan Khomtchouk scored 4.5/5 to take joint 1st place and a new provisonal rating of 1730

In the Class E section Ricardo Roman scored 4.5/5 to take joint 1st place and gained 152 rating points. Jack C Hanson also scored 4.5/5 to take joint 1st with Roman gaining 123 rating points.

In the U1000 section 2 players from IL tied for second place Bharat Patel and Eric Nathaniel Remington both with 5/6.

In the U700 section James E Marchant Sr scored 5/6 and took 1st place.
