Description
All-Ages Chess Tournament with USCF-rated sections and a Non-Rated section
Rockford Public Library - East Branch, 6685 E State St, Rockford, IL 61108
Format*:
- Open & Reserve (U1600) Sections - 4 Rounds, G/45 with 5 second delay
- Booster Section (U1200) - 5 Rounds, G/30 with 5 second delay
- *Sections & prizes at TD Discretion, depending on registrations
- Non-Rated Section - 5 Rounds, G/30 with 5 second delay (no USCF membership required)
Prize Fund:
- Cash Prizes at TD discretion (calculated and posted during second round), but initially $100 for 1st in Open, $75 for 1st in Reserve, and $50 for 1st in Booster
- Trophies for top 3 in non-rated section, medals for those tying trophy winners but holding lower tiebreak.
Conditional:
- Additional prizes to be added with 24, 28, 32 and 36 registrations; other fun giveaways!
Location:
- Rockford Public Library, East Branch Community Room, 6685 E State St, Rockford, IL 61108, enter through side door by the Pie Shop
- Be forewarned: Skittles area is limited to Kate’s Pie Shop and library seating
Rounds:
- Rounds begin at 10:30am, subsequent rounds to follow as soon as possible (ASAP — please don’t disappear!) with conclusion anticipated by 5:30pm (no break for lunch)
Entry Fee:
- $20 with advance registration by Sunday, July 9th
- $25 with courtesy of an email by Sunday, July 16th
- $30 thereafter or through on-site registration if available (Maximum 48 players)
Registration:

- On-Site registration from 10:00-10:20 am on day of tournament -- come help set up!
- All equipment provided courtesy of DeKalb Chess Club & Fox Valley Chess Club.
Lunch:
- Kate’s Pie Shop on-site (www.katespieshop.com) - No outside food allowed
- any restaurants nearby (Beef-A-Roo, Perkins, Red Robin, Five Guys, Applebee’s, Jimmy Johns)
Membership
- For USCF rated sections, USCF Membership is required
- USCF Membership may be purchased online at USChess.org, or may be purchased on-site
- Discounted USChess annual memberships may be available for K-12 players
