A free tournament for all -- no US Chess membership is required and this tournament will NOT be rated by US Chess -- but will generally follow USCF Rules.
Two Divisions: Open & Junior: 26 Trophies / Awards!
Open Division is open to all including adults, college-aged and high school students -- or ambitious younger players!
Junior Division has three sections: Grades K-2, Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8 (14 & under)
Format: Both Divisions, 5-rounds, non-elimination
Time Control: Open Division: Game/30; 5-second delay; Junior Division: Game/20; 5-second delay
If game begins without a clock due to availability, tournament director may place a clock with 5-minutes or 10-minutes per side for remainder of the game.
All sets are provided in both divisions. All clocks provided in the Open Division; please bring clocks for the Juniors Division IF you understand how to set your own clock.
Limited to 108 entries overall: register early!

On-site Registration: 9:15am to 9:45am
Tournament Play: will begin at 10am
Open will conclude by 4:45pm, Juniors should finish by 3pm.
Library doors open 9:00 am – please pre-register online by Friday and check-in by 9:45 am Saturday or else register in person no later than 9:30 am Saturday to assure first round pairing.
Site: Lozano Branch of Chicago Public Library, 1805 S. Loomis in the historic Pilsen neighborhood west of the Loop
ASAP pairings (ASAP = as soon as possible) Please don’t disappear between rounds!
Lunch idea: grab a homemade tamale from the wonderful cart lady stationed across the street -- or visit any of a number of local dining venues. Support the Pilsen community!
