The elite team of George Li, Vincent Do and Miranda Liu admirably acquitted themselves at the 2016 Denker, Barber and National Girls Invitational Tournaments.

The competition concluded August 3 in Indianapolis, IN, including entries from all but four states while adding back a second team from California and an entry from Washington, DC.

The Illinois-based trio tied for fourth place with 12.5/18 combined, the same score as Wisconsin and Oklahoma, a half-point behind third place Virginia and 1.5 points behind the champion New Jersey squad.

Texas came in second place with 13.5.

Soon to be a junior at IMSA, George tied for second among all invited high schoolers in the nation with a 4.5 tally, winning his last match against Chris Yang of Pennsylvania. George was undefeated with three wins and three draws, including a third-round draw with the eventual champion, Mike Brattain of Massachusettes.

In the Barber for junior high and elementary invitees, soon to be a freshman at Rockford Auburn, Vincent Do compiled an impressive 4.0 score, to participate in an eight-way tie for 7th place. Vincent finished with a draw against Master Carissa Yip of Massachussettes who also finished in the 4.0 score group. Vincent's only defeat was against Emily Nguyen of Texas who tied for second place.

Like Vincent, Miranda Liu also tied for seventh place with 4.0, along with five others. Miranda lost to the eventual champion Jennifer Yu of Virginia in the third round, dropped her fourth round match as well, before closing strong with two victories.

All three representatives from the Land of Lincoln finished in the top 10 on tiebreaks, George (4th), Vincent (9th) and Miranda (9th).

Way to go, team!
