With the latest addition of Ankaa Gantulga and Bolor Sarah Lkhavgajav, Illinois now boasts 48 girls in the top 100 lists compiled by US Chess, with twelve young ladies featured in the top 20.
Nandine Prakash leads the 'Age 7' group with a solid 1156 rating (#9) followed by Sukhi Doddi, who also gained points over last month.
Linda Pham moved her rating back into the 4-digit territory with a string of good tournaments.
Very nice improvement by Saruul Ann Uuganbayar, now 8 years old, who increased her rating by almost 150 points. Niyathi Girish, Siri Chennareddy and Enkhjin Namuunbayar (who is back in the top 100) also enjoyed rating gains.
All five girls from Illinois featured in the 'Age 10' bracket have gone over the 1000 mark — Nisha Salian even as high as 1333.
Natalie Wisniowski’s performance at the end of 2017 was absolutely spectacular: She played in the Illinois Class, Sevan Memorial and CCC Plus Score tournaments and went from 1553 to 1646 to 1658 to 1721. Congratulations! Natalie now ranks in 6th place nationwide for eleven-year old girls.
Margarita Tsyganova’s tournament play was also very impressive. With her new rating of 1405, Margarita jumped from rank 55 to rank 40, closely followed by Sarah Lin (rank 41, rating 1391).
Another increase of 100+ points was achieved by Sarah Grandy at the Illinois Class State Championship. Her age group is led by Shreya Mangalam and Aria Hoesley, listed in 3rd and 8th place, respectively, by US Chess.
The Illinois Class also boosted Shayna Provine’s rating to her new high of 1783, which earned her a 13th place ranking among 17-year old female players.
These lists are based on ratings achieved and processed by the third Wednesday of the prior month, in this case December 20, 2017.
