The new set of lists published by US Chess features exactly 50 female players from the State of Lincoln, ranging from a rating of 486 by 6-year old Olivia Lee to 2137 by 15-year old expert Shreya Mangalam.
Three girls—Ankaa Gantulga, Anujin Namuunbayar and Stella Pashyan—had temporarily dropped off the lists but have recently improved substantially to make the cut again.
Sixth-grader Shakira Luster from St. Ethelreda in Chicago made her first appearance on the list. Well done, Shakira!
The ‘Age 13’ group led by Sarah Lin and Margarita Tsyganova was the most improved age bracket. Both girls continue to impress with excellent achievements and climbed up 12 ranking spots each.
A shout-out also to others who increased their rating over the previous month. Just to name a few: Fox Valley Chess Club members Mehak Jiandani, Chaitra Madugula, Ria Raj and Anisha Oberai; Egshiglen Cady Munkhbayar; Saanvi Adusumalli; Sophie Hong; Wenjing Han; and Louisa Zhang.
Congratulations to all of the girls mentioned on the lists below, which are based on ratings achieved and processed by the third Wednesday of the prior month, in this case December 19, 2018.
