April 2019 Top 100 Lists for Girls

The new lists reflect the rating changes after the 2019 National High School Championship, where many of our top-rated girls - Miranda Liu, Aria Hoesley, Shreya Mangalam, Marissa Li, Nandini Prakash and others - performed well.
Several female players from Illinois had such a good tournament that they crossed a major threshold for the first time:
- Ashley Mei Yan entered 1900 territory, her new rating putting her in the top-10 nationwide for her age group.
- Anisha Oberai gained more than 100 points bringing her rating well above 1400.
- Payton’s Lizzy Brahin went from 1110 to 1290 and her US ranking from 77 to 60.
- Catherine Liu’s rating surged from 1088 to 1210.
- Enkhjin Namuunbayar jumped 117 points over last month to 1110.
- Niles North sophomore Diana Shklover had by far the biggest improvement: more than 250 points – from a rating of 1285 (rank 56) to 1527 (rank 30). Absolutely amazing, Diana!
I should also point out that our two highest-rated girls in the ‘Age 7 and Under’ category keep improving fast: Mehak Jiandani gained almost 100 points and is now the 19th best female player in the US. Six-year old Olivia Lee topped her old rating by 120 points, switching out her former rank 64 with her new rank 40.
Congratulations to all! The lists, compiled by US Chess, are based on ratings achieved and processed by the third Wednesday of the prior month, in this case March 20, 2018.
