2023 Illinois K-8 Chess Championship

DESCRIPTION

Sections:

• Lower Primary K-1:    7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 30 minute time control, 5 second delay
• Upper Primary 2-3:     7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 45 minute time control, 5 second delay
• Elementary 4-5:          7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 60 minute time control, 5 second delay
• Junior High 6-8:          7 rounds, Swiss system, no elimination, 60 minute time control, 5 second delay

Rounds:
Saturday:
Round starting times K-1 Section:  10:00, 12:30, 2:00, and 3:30
Round starting times 2-3 Section:  10:00, 12:30, 2:45, and 5:00
Round starting times 4-5 & 6-8 Sections:  10:00, 12:45, 3:15, and 5:45

Sunday:
Round starting times K-1 Section:  9:00, 10:30, 12:30   Trophies ASAP, estimated 1:45 PM. 
Round starting times 2-3 Section:  9:00, 11:00, 1:15    Trophies ASAP, estimated 3:15 PM. 
Round starting times 4-5 & 6-8 Sections:  9:00, 11:45, 2:15 Trophies ASAP, estimated 4:45PM

Prizes :  Each participant will receive a commemorative ribbon
Trophies to top 25 individuals in each division
Trophies to top 10 teams in each division
Trophies to top 2 in each grade
Class trophies for top two in several classes in each section.

$65 per payer paid by March 10, 2023 at 7:00 PM              
$75 on site – entries after 7:00pm on March 10, 2023 are not guaranteed to have a pairing in round 1 but instead may receive ½ point bye for round 1. 

SIDE EVENTS: Blitz & Bughouse March 10, 2023

• $10 Blitz registration on site
• $10 Bughouse registration on site
• Blitz begins at 6:30
• Bughouse begins at 8:00 or at conclusion of Blitz

• Champions must come from the state of Illinois.
• Top four players count toward team score. 
• No Club Teams.
• Zero point only byes last round. 
• Byes for any single round must be requested before the end of the first round. Only one half point bye allowed for tournament.
• All other rules/regulations shall be in accordance to ICA Bylaws, Bid Guidelines and the USCF Rulebook.
