Amid Covid-19, when all tournaments are cancelled and players look to online instead of over-the-board chess, US Chess just published their most recent Top 100 Lists for Girls. This compilation has a cut-off date of March 18, 2020, i.e. predates the restrictions in place due to the coronavirus. Sure enough, many of the female chess players from Illinois featured on these prestigious lists have moved up the rankings since last month.
Just a few highlights:
A big shoutout to all, and to Mythreyi, Nandini, Shakira, Maggie and Wenjing who moved to the next higher age bracket.
If you believe your daughter was inadvertently omitted from these lists, it may be due to US Chess rules regarding permission. If the player’s family cannot be contacted to confirm permission for using the name on one of these lists, the player is not listed.
