221 Face Off At Initial 2015-16 YCFC Event at Earle STEM

41 teams competed in the first of six YCFC events November 14 at Earle STEM Elementary on the southwest side of Chicago. The Youth Chess Foundation of Chicago is a 501(c)(3).
In the K-2 Novice section, Skinner North's Asha Lulla and Aaron Patino of St Joseph (Summit) tied for first with four wins and a draw. Asha won the top trophy with the higher tiebreaks. John Seward of Decatur took third place as the top tiebreak of the 4.0 scoregroup. Asha defeated John in the first round.
Hoesley Wins 2015 Decatur Chess Challenge

Aria Hoesley won the top section (K-6) of the 49-player Decatur Chess Challenge, completed November 10 at Decatur Classical Elementary.
Aria's 3.0 score placed her a half-point ahead of Lucas Staniszewski and Ricky Chen who finished 2.5. Lucas and Ricky drew in the first round. 12 competed in the section.
In the K-4, John Seward and William De Allaume posted perfect 3.0's to top the 16 player field.
Illinois All-Grade in Peoria: Complete Results Posted!

A successful Illinois All-Grade is in the books with 228 competitors battling it out in Peoria in ten sections on November 7. USCF crosstables have posted.
Seven of the 10 individual champions were from upstate. Interestingly, seven of the nine team winners were downstate schools, although two of those were uncontested. Romona Elementary of Wilmette was the only school to win more than one grade level. See table below.
All but a handful of eligible teams received trophies. Approximately one-half of all individual entrants received trophies.
2015 All-Grade K-12's Travel To Peoria Saturday

The first of the two USCF-rated Illinois scholastic championships of the 2015-2016 school year is slated for this weekend and registration remains open through the week. The fall All-Grade (K-12) is a one-day event, the spring K-8 is a two-day tournament.
The Greater Peoria Chess Foundation was selected to host this year's All-Grade, to be held November 7 at the Travelodge Hotel and Convention Center.
The website for registration and further information is www.illinoisallgrade.com. As of 11/5 11pm, 214 have registered.
Peng Ties for U12 Championship at World Youth in Greece

Illinois is well-represented at 2015 World Youth in Greece: Eight Illinois players are among the American delegation to the 2015 World Youth competition in Greece. The 11-round FIDE tournament is being hosted in Porto Carras in the Halkidki peninsula.
CM David Peng has posted a 9.0/11 score to assure a share of the Under 12 Open Championship. On tiebreaks, David earned bronze, one of four Americans to medal.
